I spent last night in the emergency department of our local hospital worrying over my husband.
He called not 10 minutes after I posted last night screaming in agony after an evening bicycle ride around the neighborhood ended with a fluky slip on a patch of ice and an elbow so completely and grotesquely dislocated that even the attending doctors winced at the x-ray. (I almost threw up)
Kudos to the friendly and efficient staff who rushed him through a frantically busy emergency waiting room and had him on a morphine drip within 20 minutes of arrival.
Boos and hisses to the dozens of drivers who never stopped to offer assistance to a bloodied man out of his mind with pain, lying in a frozen snowbank beside a mangled bicycle.
Please direct your positive thoughts, good wishes and prayers towards the speedy recovery of my husband and an end to the stresses that have plagued our house of late.

I thought you people had about 60 feet of snow and it was -10 degrees up there. What was he doing out on a bike? You Canadians must be spectacularly hardy folk.
Get well soon! And maybe people didn't see him in the dark?
Healing vibes being sent northward...
Nobody stopped? That is just sickening.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery. He sure doesn't look like a very happy camper and I wince just to think of his injury.
Ouch Ouch Ouch...I hope he feels better soon...
That's just horrible that no one stopped. Unbelievable.
Hard core biking fanatic it appears to be out even when there is ice to be found.
I will pray for your husband's recovery. What is the recovery/course of action/plan?
He looks kind of young Rod Stewardish.
KEEP BELIEVING
prayers incoming.
and booing all those drivers (my husband had a car catch on fire on the way to a conference of pastors, all of whom passed him on the road on the way to the conference. who stopped to help? a truck driver)
Oh that poor man! Tell him we are sending him "Get Well Wishes" from Pennsylvania!
Wow, get well soon Rob!
Unfortunately, Canadians aren't the only ones who don't stop for stuff like this. My friend's husband had the same sort of accident a few years back and, same thing: nobody stopped. That is unbelievable.
Healing thoughts headed up your way!
NO ONE STOPPED?
How embarrassing for people everywhere.
Well wishes from geographically central Canada :-)
Poor guy! My mom cracked her pelvis and my dad broke his his arm really bad falling off bikes. I hope that your hubbie recovers quickly.
Poor guy! That looks really rough!!! Sending prayers to Canada....
Hoping for quick healing. Mean people suck (in Canada as well as the States, apparently).
Sending warm wishes your way.........
As a cyclist, I know how dangerous it can be. I'm so sorry for the ordeal that he has been through and my thoughts a prayers are with you.
Oh man, I hope he feels well soon!
(Love that picture....)
Best wishes for your poor husband that he feels better soon. My husband wrecked his bike sometime ago and nobody stopped to help him either (he wasn't hurt as bad)
Oh my. I hope he's feeling better soon! Yay for good doctors and nurses. Boo on people who don't stop!
Oh that's horrible. Both the accident and that no one stopped. Unbelievable.
On the up side, think of all the fun stories he can make up to tell people about his injuries.
Boos indeed!! Poor hubs. I hope he's feeling better very soon.
No offense, but he looks like crap. God love his heart, he's gonna be telling this story for a long time. How terrible that people these days are so cold that they can drive right past a human in need of help. Positive thoughts sent North!
Sending best wishes your way and prayers for a speedy recovery.
Totally all over your request to send "positive thoughts, good wishes and prayers towards the speedy recovery".
I hope the little one doesn't jump on your husband any time soon :) Good luck with that!
Poor hubby. Sending you guys lots of warm wishes. :)
He has sort of a cute wild look going though. Sending lots of good vibes to all of you
what the heck was he doing riding out in y'all's crazy cold weather?
Bless his heart. I'm so sorry that nobody stopped to help him and he got so hurt. That picture makes me cringe a little, he looks like on giant boo boo.
Hope he recovers quickly and that everything starts to go a bit smoother for y'all!
Poor guy! That expression kind of says it all.
Good Lord! Glad it's only the breaks that it is, though.... So sorry he had to go through so much pain, and that nobody stopped to help.
He looks like a rockstar after a really rough party...
oh my gosh...poor guy.
I hope he recovers quickly
Oh poor guy! Here's to swift healing.
And Tracey's right - he does look a little like a rock star after a hard night.
Oh my gosh, your poor husband. He's in need of some diva pampering!
How awful! I hope he mends soon.
Boo to the drivers that didn't stop. I hope they lost sleep over it.
Ohhh Poor hubby!! My goodness!! And yeah, I agree, boo to all the people that didn't stop! Holy cow, jerks!
I hope he gets to feeling better soon!
OMG! I'm sure you were so scared!
Oh my goodness! THat must have been a scary night for you! I'm glad he is (relatively) OK, and hope he's feeling better soon!
Melody
Praying for your husband and your family.
Sounds like a terrible night! Hopefully things will improve today.
It's a sad sign of the times when nobody stops to help someone who is clearly in pain and in need.
I'm so sorry, DMD. Sending good wishes to you and your husband.
Oh good gravy, I'm so sorry to hear your news. I can't believe people drove by and didn't stop or even call for help!!
I hope your husband feels better soon!! (((hugs)))
Oh no! That's awful. I hope he mends quickly. And no one stopped to help... Hmph. Jerks.
OMG.......I can't believe that that nobody stopped for him! How awful :(
Sending get well wishes to him! I hope is better soon!
Yeouch! I hope he heals quickly!
Ow! He looks pretty rough! Poor guy, I will say a prayer for him and for your family.
Thinking of you Kelly,
Kristen
OUCH MAN!!! Thinking of you guys and praying for a speedy recovery!
Good Thoughts coming your way!
Get well soon!!
Ouch! He looks like he's still in tons of too much pain. Glad he was able to get treatment immediately at least. We'll be thinking of you.
Mental note: one should never bike on ice after dark.
♥ OUCH! How disappointing that nobody stopped! I hope that he recovers very quickley and the pain isn't too bad! Just your description makes me cringe!
oh MY DEAR HEAVENS! How horrible. I do hope he has a speedy recovery.
Oh I'm so sorry! Maybe he'll share his drip. ;)
Already sending prayers your way.
That's awful that people didn't stop to help! Selfish bastards! Hope he's on the mend.
Oh my, that is the saddest looking man I have seen in a looong time! Take good care of him, poor thing!
I am rushing madly all about ... where, oh where did I leave the keys to the STRESS BUSTERS van?!?! (If only I could come to your rescue! But, alas can not be there to tie your sadly banged-up husband's shoes for him or attend to those irksome chores that will be so difficult for him to manage.) But!! My love goes out to him [because he MUST be a great guy for God to have blessed him with You] ... and to You.)
Oh no! He looks like he's been run over by a bus. And, I suppose he might have been, what with no one stopping to help??? How rotten. Here's to quick healing!
Oh no! I hope he heals quickly and painlessly.
I can't believe noone stopped to help...I mean even to call for help on a cell phone or something. What is wrong with people!
I'm so so sorry! Sending him quick healing vibes and best wishes for much better days ahead. Spring is around the corner.
Oh that picture. It really says it all. That poor man!!!! I hope he feels better immediately. Keep the meds coming!
I accidentally locked myself out of my car, at a stop sign, while it was running, with my newborn and not even two year old in the car, in the middle of winter, as I got out to clear the massive sheet of ice that slid down from the top of my car covering the windshield.
I stood in the middle of the street waving my arms trying to get people to stop so that I could call the police (my purse and cell phone were in the car too, of course). No one stopped for almost 10 minutes. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT!
And a bloody mangled man in the street next to a bicycle and no one stops???? WTH?????
Wow. That looks really unpleasant.
Poor guy. Speedy recoveries to him and thank goodness it wasn't worse than it was.
My sister had a helluva a bike accident a couple of years ago and luckily people stopped.
So sorry that he got hurt! I'll be wishing him a speedy recovery. That just sucks!
No one helped!?!?! I can't believe it! Oh he looks beat up! Im so sorry! I hope that he starts to feel better and recovers fast! Sorry to hear!
Ouch, he sure is the dedicated cyclist isn't he? Mind you most of the big stuff had probably melted. I can't believe that not one person stopped to help him!! That is just horrible!
Sending well wishes your way, hope hubby recovers quickly!
Awww! Poor guy! I hope he feels better. I'm really sorry to hear no one helped him -- really sorry....
Healing thoughts and well-wishes from Michigan...
Wow that's horrible. Hope he mends well and quickly.
A friend of mine had a similar accident where he hit some sand, then a bump and went head first over the handlbars. Hurt his face badly to the point of needing metal to put him back together. Not one person stopped to help him either.
Jerks.
Wow - he looks awfully battered! Are you sure he wasn't covering up for being in a bar fight? (Joking - feel better soon, Mr. Diva!)
Ouch! Looks painful....Feel better soon!
I feel so bad for him. He will be in my prayers for a speedy recovery.
Ohhh...I feel like crying for him! Poor guy! Feel better soon and I will wish good luck your way. I know how it feels to have a black cloud over your head!!!!
I am so disappointed in human beings that have no compassion! Geesh!
Keep your head up and the pain killers close by!
oh, your poor husband. i hope he is feeling much better soon. the poor guy. spring will be here soon, do not let him resume bike riding until then, okay? take care!
warm wishes are coming your way!
He looks exhausted. The poor guy! I promise, I would have stopped to help. People are just awful, aren't they?
I cannot believe NOBODY stopped. I hope for a speedy recovery as others have stated..
And the photo makes me say ouch.. I can't imagine how he feels..
FEEL BETTER!!
Wow, he looks completely banged up. I hope he recovers soon. I had one of my worst bike accidents while we were living in Finland. Me on the bike wtih icy roads, I just didn't do so well. But it was nothing as bad as your husbands.
Oh my gosh! He looks terrible, what a horrible, freak accident. I don't understand why people don't stop to help in times like this either.
Hope he gets feeling "good as new" soon!
Oh your poor boo!! That pic of him is so sad and, well, pathetic. I hope you gave him lots of hugs and kisses, and I hope the doctors gave him lots of pain meds!!
Here's hoping he heals quickly and that his ego isn't bruised forever after being called out on his wife's blog!
P.S. I LOVE that you posted that pic of him. He's a good sport.
I'm just catching up on my blog reading, so I'm a little behind on the times.... So sorry to hear about hubby's accident! He really does look awful (great picture, though! *grin*) Hope he's feeling better soon!
I can sympathize with you on your dismay over the state of the human race. I've become very cynical about that sort of thing. Sadly, it doesn't surprise me at all that no one stopped. People think of no one but themselves anymore.
Hoping for his quick healing...
and prayers for better times ahead for all of you!
alex
oh my lord! once again, sorry for commenting so late...catching up, catching up. poor rob, he looks like he's been through alot. i hope his arm mends quickly. what a scarey incident...and so sad that nobody helped. i'm hoping you guys just stayed in and cocooned all weekend long.
Yowzers! Poor Rob. That's downright scary that nobody stopped. I like to think I would have stopped, as would any of the bloggers I know. Bloggers, apart from being basically nice people, are always looking for material. ;)
Anyway, I hope he's feeling comfortable by now.
I'm just catching up. Crap! I hope the pain has subsided and that he is a quick healer.
Good thing it was not his motorcycle! Mend up Rob, because the actors have agreed to not get in the way of productions.
