And you thought I was high maintenance

That crazy OHMommy asked for a peek inside my purse.

And I'm happy to oblige though I think she might be just a little surprised at just how few girly-girl accouterments this self-proclaimed diva carts about on a typical Saturday morning.

It's a beauty isn't it?

More than 40 years old, it belonged to my late grandmother who died four years ago at the age of 92. It's retro, it's stylish and I love it.

But there ain't a lot of room in this little beauty.

Just enough space for:

keys

one diaper

one pack of wipes

Gucci wallet (okay knock-off Gucci wallet)

library card/ credit cards that don't fit in knock-off Gucci wallet

loose change (for Graham's RESP fund, just in case he decides to ignore his God-given talent and attend college)

nail file

two packs of dental floss

an unmarked stamp I ripped off a recently received letter (it's not that I'm cheap, it's just that I can't resist even the smallest salvo in my ongoing battle with The Man)

a button I've been meaning to sew onto one of my winter coats since the fall

a comb

an eyelash curler

a lip liner, lip stick, eye liner, mascara and second lipstick to rub on cheeks (all the makeup I ever wear, honest!)

and last but not least...

my super-duper, monogrammed, silver-plated card holder which holds my super-duper DMD calling cards (vanity, thy name is Diva)

And - how could I forget? - one more thing that is almost always found in my purse...

Why the two packs of floss?

Heh - you've got way more cosmetics than I do. I've got Carmex lip balm and a compact in mine. Other than that, all I have is an iphone, wallet and keys.

I need to spice mine up just in case I get run over and a cop has to look in my purse. Put something in there like a can of Spam just to keep them guessing.

Fabulous purse!

That is an awesome purse! My husband once made the mistake of commenting I was "low maintance"... and I started cracking up... and said.. "Are you KIDDING ME??? This is why we have our problems.. you treat your 'high maintance' wife 'low maintance' to frequently!! :-D

I think I have a similar purse, but in patent.

And um, DMD? To me, that IS a lot of girly-girl accoutrements! I'm lucky if I remember chapstick.

My mom's purse always had wads of used kleenex. I mean, used. Like with chewed gum in them or quite obviously boogered up.

Great purse! I might have to do a similar post. Mine has wipes, diaper, princess undies and an extra pair of pants (size 2).

My Grandma had the same purse. I had forgotten all about it. Thanks for the memories.

I have a smaller version of that bag I use for formal parties we have to go to....I LOVE IT!

I started using Bobbi Brown makeup because she does a lip/cheek pot!

This could be a fun meme.

You put lipstick on your cheeks?

I dig that purse. Mines, um, scary right now. It was once cool but now it's covered in teeeeeny teeth marks.

Lol! I had a knock off Coach bag, and it was really cute, but my sister spilled wax on it. :(

You don't wanna know what's in my purse. Too much junk possibly including used tissue and candy wrappers!!

I believe this meme was started by Jaime at Choosing My Own in San Diego.

It is amazing how fast and far it is spreading.

Love the purse (and the boy)!

I love your purse. My grandma had one similar. I used to walk around in her heels with her purse stuck to my arm.

Ahh the memories.

Here's the contents of my purse:

I love the purse. Reminds me of the bag Grace Kelly carried in the movie "Rear Window". (Hers was a Mark Cross. Which was bought out by Coach.)

I don't know how you manage with so few things, though. Once I got rid of the diaper bag, my purse increased in size to unbelievable proportions.

How fabulous that you have your Grandma's purse ( and also that it was a cool one that you love! not sure my grandma's would have been, bless her soul).

Have you got a floss thing? I've got a lip-gloss thing. I Must Not Ever Have Dry Lips!!

Love that purse ... and the final item! Very sweet!

I did something similar way back when. Lots of fun!

I'm impressed at how practical all those items are! Does your small purse really double as a diaper bag too? impressive :)

Jenifer said...

Very retro indeed...I swing widely between carrying a real purse, my hip diaper bag/ purse and my Coach swing bag...oh the trials of the modern Mom.

I never leave home without dental floss either!

That holds a lot more than I would have thought actually. Also goes to show for what quality used to be if it has lasted for 40 years.
