Things change.
Once I became a mom and hit my mid-30s I was forced to rethink my personal style rules and tips. Heck, even things I believed to be irrevocable truths about beauty and fashion, just didn't seem like the best ideas any more.
Time has forced my to rewrite the book on what does and what does not work for me. I'm a mom. I'm 38 and holding and here's what I've learned, or in some cases unlearned, about style over the past decade.
Check out my hard-earned wisdom over at my Shooting For Hip column at Better Than a Playdate. I'm still no Anna Wintour - but hey, I'm tryin'.
How to be a permanent POS

heading over now.
Post motherhood I look for clothes that are stylish, allow me to crawl around, and aren't making me look like "mutton dressed as lamb". Sometimes I can find something to wear, other times, not so successful. Drives me crazy!
And then there's me, who still dresses like a 15 year old punk.
Bullshit you're 38. 38 is the new 25.
Those are to funny only because they are so true. My style has definetely changed as I've gotten older because of these very reasons. Well that and I can afford a bit better now than I used to.
I used to think it was so cool to braless too. But now I can't stand to be without one. The girls just don't like to jiggle anymore.
I'm going to go check it out but it's so true! I didn't even own cotton until I had a baby. It was a big wake up call and I've realized I'm happier in cotton!
Great post over there, thanks for linking!
I shall rue the day where going braless is no longer overly acceptable -- though at 15 weeks preggo right now, I'm hoping there shall be some expansion in the chest area -- this can't be all I get for life!
Lol, it's so interesting how the things you hold as truth being to shift as you grow.
I used to be able to pull off the braless thing all the time. Now that I'm pregnant, I'm realizing that I shouldn't do that to the seeing public.
I think we pay more attention to fashion because we're just plain bored with our own "style." I need bras with size B for one, and C for the other. This was not true until just this year!
Great list. I completely agree about wearing a bra and wearing heels. I hate not wearing a bra, I even wore one when giving birth (I'm so not a 'natural' birth gal)
Oh, dear lord, how my style has changed. I am heading over there now.....
I'm 38 and have totally changed my beauty views. When I go out for milk looking less than best, I just pretend I'm a celeb who is trying to have a relaxing day and some paparazzi is snapping photos.
Great post! I'm learning to embrace my beauty, instead of fighting to conform to society's standards of beauty. I wear less makeup, but I feel prettier. I wear more stylish clothes--not because I'm obsessing over style mags, but because I'm finding clothes that I can wear without looking like the clothes are wearing me...
What? I can't wear a mumu ALL the time? Sigh. I'll pop over and take a look.
I (as always) love your post. Mind you, sometimes it's tough to read that at 35 years old I need to rethink my style HA HA... damn, no more short skirts and running shoes hey? LOL ;)
love this post.
very funny stuff (and so damn true)
