I'm hurting but I'm here

I expected it to be overwhelming and it is.

There are 1,000 people attending this conference. There are corporate and media representatives everywhere.

It. is. intense.

Is is also a lot of fun. So much fun, in fact, that I spent my first few waking hours this morning nursing the first hangover I can remember suffering since Graham's birth.

But I feel better now. And I am learning a lot. So far I have learned that mommy blogging is a radical act and that I simply must be on Twitter.

And I have definitely learned that these days five glasses of wine is waaay past my limit.

A few people I've been hanging with...

Kellan and JCK

Mandy

Mother Bumper (Happy birthday MB!) and Scarbie Doll

1,000? That's fantastic.

There's not quite so many of us over here in Virtual Blogher world... but it's good to know we are radical too.

Sounds like a fun conference! How do I get there?

Actually I only just stepped off a plane going in the other direction, so maybe I'll stay home this weekend!

Hope the hangover is better!

Ooh yes, do join Twitter! I need a few more folks to follow.

Wouldn't take much to make me have a hangover these days. SO out of practice.

I hope your head feels better. I'm glad you hear you're having such a great time, can't wait to hear more!

Hope you loaded up on the tylenol today! I still haven't ventured into the land of twitter...maybe I should!

Try not to have too much fun without us!

I don't think mommy blogging is all that radical. In fact, I think most mommy blogs are pretty boring. You and Scarbie Doll are the only "mommy bloggers" I've found that can actually WRITE (and you both write about things besides motherhood). Why do most mommy blogs simply not write about sex, their husbands, money etc.? Why are most comments one big virtual (((HUG)))? No one really speaks out, offers a differing view, says something to spark debate. I get why people want to offer support, but do they have to be so damned agreeable all the time? Anyway, hopefully you'll post more about your experiences in SF and explain why mommy blogging is so radical. Surely there's more to it than "lifting the veil" on domestic life? Or am I just not getting it?

becky - my virtual blogher post offered a differing view - come read!

yep - resistance to alcohol significantly weakens once ya have kids! with careful partying and social drinking the limit can be slightly raised tho - have one for me! looks like fun.

Kelly, it's been great to spend time with you at the conference. We're on a wave of something - a movement. Whatever it is, it feels good.

I'll have a chocolate hangover in the morning from all of this SWAG! What, they think women like chocolate???

Glad you are having fun. Twitter, to me, just sounds like one more thing to do, but what do I know. I can barely keep up with the blogs I want to read and comment on! But that doesn't mean that one day I won't add it to all that I do!

If you join, I'll check out what it's all about!

Thank you for posting a picture where Katie and I look totally hawt.

Second, Becky has a bit of a point. I love her. Bu-u-u-t... even if mom blogs are sometimes boring -- because they can be -- I think the whole act of blogging will be a revolutionary movement in future history books. Thanks Becks, will put up a piece I wrote on the plane later today.

Ugh. So also wish I'd been there to hang with you and Motherbumper and Nadine. We must do another TO blogger night soon to soothe my budding green monster.

OK......did you know all of these bloggers before the convention?

I'm still recovering from last weekend (sadly not from drinking but headcramping) and seeing this photo is making me feel all squidgy again. Dang - it's like it never happened but there is too much photographic evidence to the contrary.
