Making the most of Family Day

It's Family Day today in Ontario and we decided to ignore the cold rain, make an effort to broaden our son's horizons and indulge him in the kind of rich educational and cultural activities that our government surely had in mind when it dreamt up Ontario's newest public holiday.

We first treated him to some fine food.

Then we allowed him the opportunity to observe the awesome power of Mother Nature close up.

And finally we made sure he had a chance to reconnect with the people and things in his life that matter most.

Okay, okay.

So we took the little stinker to the mall and let him walk around for a bit.

But you know what? He had a blast.

Happy Family Day!

So we're celebrating dead presidents and you get to celebrate family. Sounds like you've got the better end of the deal.

Hey at least you spent time together as a family...it didn't say where you had to spend it right?

Cute! I see you were back at McDonalds...I would love some of those fries right now.

I haven't been to the mall just to hang out in a long while; it's fun! (But harder with teens: a totally different shopping experience!)

I'm jealous. The only places open in my area were the local dive and the bowling alley.

Guess where we went today?

I don't take my youngest two to the mall as much as I ever took my oldest two, and they love it when we go! They just got rid of the McDonalds, though.

Oh for G's sake. I thought all the malls would be closed today! I missed out on retail therapy? That's just not right. Sigh. Glad to hear you had fun though...

We had President's Day yesterday and it involved watching a lot of Law and Order while the kids played in the yard with Josh. LOL. I think your day was better.
