The masochism of beauty

No I am not a masochist.

At least I don't think I am, though a logical person might dispute that assertion. I mean, logically, why would I willingly submit to, and spend my hard-earned money on, a painful ritual involving hot wax and tender bits?

You've probably done it too, haven't you? And there's no logic to it. It's the masochism of beauty and it's made a victim of even smart and enlightened women for thousands of years.

Are woman all over the world suffering for beauty and a bigger piece of the economic pie? Muse with me over at Better Than A Playdate...

Great post.

My sister had to quietly stand by in Africa as she watched her villager girls undergo many awful things. They were custom/tradition and those that did not do it were looked down upon.

This reminds me to book my next appointment. It is my monthly custom.

I have not endured that particular torture in a number of years. I keep my tender bits trimmed and proper but I have left the wax alone.

Truthfully I would like to have a stern talking with the first woman who did any kind of shaving, plucking, or trimming EVER!!

She did this to us all!!!

Meanwhile...I wish that men would take better care of their nose and ear hair.

So much for natural beauty, huh? Oh, well. We have it easy compared to some other cultures. I guess we should just remain thankful for that.

The park will get more visitors if you keep it clean.

I hope I don't need to say more ....
