I am a cliche.
There have been so many warning signs since Graham's birth - the working mom guilt, the typical middle-aged acquiescence to authority, the worrying about every little thing - but now it's official.
The proof? Last week, as a result of the aforementioned working mom guilt, I felt compelled to indulge in what is perhaps the most shopworn domestic cliche ever: the baking of the chocolate chip cookies.
Cousin Cailey came along for the ride...
And did her best to try and minimize shrinkage...
With mixed results.
If only I had known that becoming a cliche involved such delicious cuteness, I would have done it sooner.

What great photos!!!
I want cookies. :)
Good heavens, Graham looks just like you. He is certainly his own little person but you are so all over him. His eyes, your eyes, his nose, your nose, his silhouette, it is all you.
It is all you.
God Love Ya Woman. That is just too adorable.
Awesome photos.
Funny what we do to relieve the guilt.
I played barbies today.
Reluctantly, I might add. But I played.
Everyone knows that the dough tastes better than the cookies themselves: Smart boy you have there!
I would say that I've baked about 200 batches of chocolate chip cookies since I had kids. Now the kids just bake them themselves.
Yum. Now I'm hungry. Damn you. :)
Did you match them on purpose. So cute.
We have made so many cookies. My butt is proof of all of my kid's hard work. LOL!
That's funny that Rachel said he's all you, because I TOTALLY see your husband in him!
Love the shaggy do...
I can't believe you just discovered that gem of childhood. I'll bet it'll be repeated often now. :)
Um. We bake cookies every 2 or 3 days. Am I a big nerd?
Wait. Don't answer that.
I LOVE the photos. Looks like everyone had fun!
Those photos are so much fun!
Looks like a great time!
Making cookies with kids is the most fun.
I love the photos! Graham is growing up right in front of our eyes...that last photo does not have much "Little Boy" in it...he looks so grown up!
I love baking with the kids!
I can just smell those fresh cookies right now! The pics were adorable. :-) you rock Mrs. Cleaver.
There is nothing wrong with baking chocolate chip cookies. Ever.
I wish my kids could cook. I guess they are only 7 and 5, but still!!! It's never to early to learn, right? My motivation? So, someone will cook for ME, of course LOL.
Do I see an empty beer bottle in one of the pictures? Because I'm pretty sure June Cleaver never would have had a beer!
Okay, is it just me or has Graham not just gotten huge-mungous overnight? He's so little boy; I love his hair!
What a fun post! Great shots Kelly, and yes, choco chip cookies are a huges milestone indeed ;)
Um, when did G turn 5? He looks so grown up!
And the cookies? A must. The dough is good for the soul, both kid and grown up alike ;-)
oooo wish I was there...I'd not be much help with the shrinkage though. sorry.
I love it! I also Love making cookies. Some times my domestic side is so...domestic that it frightens me.
Forget the cookies. That boy's eyes are shocking!
Such great pictures! How fun. Did you have enough batter left to bake the cookies?
I believe that baking chocolate chip cookies is actually required by law with little kids. BY LAW.
I broke out the paints today with Peaches. I think I felt a similar sense of trepidation. Great fun though - you also had the advantage of ending up with tasty cookies. Everyone's a winner.
Axel's not even old enough to enjoy the cookies yet, and I still use him as a reason to bake. Not that I really need a reason to make anything with chocolate in it.
Looks like a lot of delicious fun to me!
Looks like you had a blast! Makes me want some cookies...
June Cleaver I am not, but baking cookies is very big in our house. I love the bagged mixes though...so much faster & less mess!
Cute pics!
Ok so yeah, now I want cookies. Or at least the batter...
Cliche, smiche! Chocolate cookies are delicious, and baking them is fun! Mmmmmm. I'm going to have to bake some soon myself!
The kids look like they had a great time!
